Project update: major survey campaigns successfully completed in 2025
We are pleased to share a progress update on the site investigation works carried out throughout 2025 for the Sørlige Nordsjø II concession. The past year marked a significant milestone, with extensive soil characterization, geotechnical investigations, geophysical surveys, and nearshore mapping operations completed to support the detailed design phase of the offshore wind farm.
Completion of detailed geotechnical campaign
Fugro and Geoquip Marine executed a comprehensive series of detailed geotechnical investigations across the SNII concession. These works form a critical part of phase 1 of the geotechnical campaign.

“The successful completion of this year’s geotechnical program gives us a robust foundation for the engineering work ahead. These campaigns significantly reduce geological uncertainty and ensure that our design decisions are backed by high‑quality data,” said Wim Verrept, Project Director at JERA Nex bp. “The teams offshore have delivered exceptional work in challenging conditions. Ventyr extends its thanks to all teams and partners involved in delivering these complex offshore operations safely and efficiently.”
High-resolution 3D seismic survey
The Ramform Vanguard, operated by TGS, departed from the Port of Stavanger to execute a high‑resolution 3D Ultra‑High Resolution Seismic (UHRS) survey within the concession area. This campaign successfully mapped surface and subsurface conditions to detect any obstacles that might affect installation works.

Nearshore survey campaign
Norwegian contractor Norkyst conducted an extensive nearshore geophysical survey to connect coastal data with the existing information on the offshore cable route.

Looking ahead
The successful completion of these 2025 survey campaigns marks a major achievement for the SNII project. The collected data will play a vital role in optimizing foundation and cable design, and layout, ensuring safe and feasible installation, and supporting the long-term performance of the offshore wind farm.
