Ministry extends deadline for Sørlige Nordsjø II licence application
The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has approved Ventyr’s request to extend the deadline for submitting the Sørlige Nordsjø II licence application from 15 October 2026 to 15 October 2027.
Ventyr is currently giving high priority to evaluating a landfall and grid connection option near Alcoa—Option G 2.0. This option has the potential to reduce impacts on the environment, the local community, and landowners, while also delivering positive societal benefits.
In its decision, the Ministry highlighted the value of conducting additional technical, environmental and socio-economic studies to ensure a thorough evaluation of the alternative. The Ministry also acknowledged that the assessment process is particularly complex, involving multiple stakeholders and requiring further development before it can be included in the licence application.
