Ventyr is pre-qualified
Ventyr is happy to announce that it has pre-qualified for the development of the Sørlige Nordsjø II area in the Southern Norwegian North Sea, alongside four other consortia.
Ventyr is a partnership between the Belgian headquartered global offshore wind developer and operator Parkwind, which is owned by JERA, a Japanese energy company , and Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group, the largest IKEA retailer. The consortium has a strategic partnership with NorSea, the Norwegian owner of strategic port infrastructure and provider of port services, base and logistics solutions to customers in a wide variety of industries, including offshore wind.
Project Manager Jorne Bluekens from Ventyr expressed his enthusiasm, describing the pre-qualification as a pivotal moment for the consortium.
“Being pre-qualified for the Sørlige Nordsjø II offshore wind auction is a milestone for us. We are dedicated to continue our work on this project,“ Bluekens stated.
Auction in March
Ventyr’s pre-qualification for Sørlige Nordsjø II highlights the importance of cross-border cooperation and partnerships in the development of offshore wind. Belgium and Norway signed an energy agreement in 2022 emphasising the importance of the Belgian expertise in the offshore wind industry – led by Parkwind – to help Norway realize its huge offshore wind potential. In 2023, the trade bodies for wind energy in Norway and Japan, the Norwegian Offshore Wind and Japan Wind Power Association, signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at increasing collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two nations.
According to Minister of Energy Terje Aasland, “Today, we can announce that several strong applicants have been qualified to participate in the auction for offshore wind for Sørlige Nordsjø II. We have decided to proceed with the auction, which will begin on the 18th of March. I look forward to a good auction between these companies.”
The 1.5GW windfarm is expected to be completed in 2030 and is one of the first steps in Norway’s ambition to award 30GW of offshore wind power by 2040.
